Mansfield used to be known as a "GM town," before General Motors downsized and shut down its Ontario stamping plant. Recently, Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker took criticism from a municipal union official for a decision to purchase 3 foreign-made Nissan vans for city use. The union contends those were the first foreign-made vehicles the city has purchased in recent memory, and money paid to Nissan won’t stay in the U.S. Theaker said he was trying to save money.
